Danna's Growing Young Blog

How old are you?  On June 18, 2012, I'll be SIXTY!  Do you wonder like I do, how the years flew by so quickly? It seems like yesterday, I was holding my youngest daughter in my arms after giving birth to her. Then, BLINK…one year ago, I held my beautiful new grandson in my arms for the first time. Life is flying by and God has so much for each of us to do. But, how can we accomplish His purposes for our lives if we are unhealthy, exhausted or losing enthusiasm for life?

It takes no time at all to grow “up”. By the time we hit our late teens or early twenties, that project is done. In our twenties and thirties we’re a bit oblivious to the insidious downward pull of gravity. But, one day we wake up in horror and exclaim, “I’ve become my mother!” (I love you, Mom and want to be just like you in many ways; but looking 25 years older is not one of them!) I’ve been blessed to inherit some great genetics. I’m often mistaken for being ten or more years younger than my real age. Without a healthy lifestyle, my great genes would be worthless. I truly believe that my “mostly” healthy lifestyle is the bigger reason that I look and feel relatively young. Life is so much more enjoyable when we look and feel our best. So, with that in mind, I’ve decided to share my expertise, thoughts and research on the topic of “Growing Young” in a regular blog. Hopefully, it will become a new book in the next couple years!

Danna's Intentional Living Blog

What lasting deposit did you make today that will make a difference in a week, month, year or decade from now? If we don’t make a conscious effort to lead intentional lives, we will lose our one and only opportunity to make an impact during the short years God has given us on this planet.

Like most people, I lose sight of the really important (God and others) and get caught up in the tyranny of the urgent more often than I’d like to admit. I’m on a journey to learn to “practice the presence of God” and to pass all my life, thoughts and decisions through the truth of God’s Word. Sometimes during my quiet time with God, He gives me an inspiration. Sometimes, I just feel like writing my thoughts and wonder if you sometimes are thinking the same kind of thoughts that I think.

My “Intentional Living” blogs will not all be the same format. Some are somewhat devotional. Others are more like articles and some become stories. But, they all are intended to help us live more intentional lives – invested in the things that matter most and will make a difference even beyond this lifetime.
